AND NOW YOU WANT ME ONE MORE TIME
Vampirism: Being a Vampire, Charles has several strengths associated with the disease. This includes superhuman speed, strength, and reflexes above and beyond the levels thought to be physically possible by his general size and stature. He also possesses heightened senses of sight, smell, and hearing. Being a vampire also grants him immortality. He does not age, weaken, and is immune to typical diseases and injuries that would kill a normal man.
Power of Suggestion: After years of training his speech skills, Charles has developed his own version of a “silver tongue”. He is able to manipulate and talk humans into doing pretty much anything that he wants them to after studying speeches throughout previous ages as well as reading books on body posturing and popular psychology.
Physical Attractiveness: When he was still human, Charles was noted for his physically good looks. Being a vampire, this has not changed, and his looks can still draw people in to him, even with his deadly demeanor hidden below the surface.
Lone Wolf: After being cursed, Charles has turned his back on much of the vampire community. As such he has learned how to survive in the world more or less by himself. This has granted him several skills, such as being able to find shelters, hide when being pursued, and being able to find a food source when absolutely essential.
Use of Disguises: Using some of the knowledge from his human life, Charles is able to disguise himself and move through a crowd, or gain access into otherwise restricted areas. This has come in handy on more than one occasion when needing to gain food, or when hiding from mobs in well-populated areas, or ones that are knowledgeable about vampires.
Knowledge of Human Culture: After being cursed, Charles spent a large amount of time within human groups, trying to understand the feelings of pain and remorse he was experiencing. This has led him to gain a wider knowledge of the current trends in human culture, and their recent activities and desires that most vampires have little to no knowledge of.
WEAKNESSES
Vampirism: As a carrier of the disease, there are several weaknesses that are also associated. This includes being burned by holy relics (including blessed water and crosses). Also part of the disease, he must be invited into non-public locations before being allowed to enter. Charles can also be burned by exposure to sunlight, and must remain indoors during daylight hours. The easiest methods to kill a vampire are a wooden stake through the heart, decapitation, or fire. Finally, as a vampire, Charles must drink blood or he will begin to rapidly age, losing his abilities, and eventually death if he doesn’t find a food source.
Cursed: After being cursed by a vengeance demon, Charles now feels the pain and hurt of the family victims of those he kills. Although he does not have the soul to make him evaluate the morality of taking a life, he can see the pain through the eyes of others. He has used many methods to try and subdue these pains including drinking, potions, and sex, but so far he is forced to feel the same emotions.
Loner: After being cursed, Charles has been forced to live much of his life on his own, after turning his back on many of the other vampires, as they could not experience the pain he felt after a kill. Therefore, he does not have the protection of a coven or other vampires, and instead must fend for and defend himself.
Lack of Magical Knowledge: While fearing his curse, Charles has refused to look into anything else associated with magic. He sees it as a black mark that has caused him trouble, and therefore must be avoided. This has caused him to fall behind in the lore of magic, included defenses against it as well as anything in the realm that could be beneficial.
Prisoner of Vices: After using so many vices to help deal with his curse, Charles continues to throw himself into them, hoping they will help him deal with his pain that he still doesn’t understand. For this reason, he will often find himself searching out vices, such as booze or a woman, when he instead should be looking for his more basic needs.
Vendetta Against Sire: After being cursed, Charles made the error of telling his sire of the feelings he was possessing. Seeing this as weaknesses, his sire cast him out of the coven, hoping it would cause him to come back around. Charles sees this as a betrayal, a has dreamt of destroying his own sire, which has further separated him from the rest of the vampires in the London area.

i got a sick obsession
I'M SEEING IT IN MY DREAMS
Born into the upper class in London, Charles never had to lift a finger in his early life. Everything was simply given to him by the servants of his house, or his parents, who waited on their only child as a gift from the heavens. This was expedited by the fact that everything seemed to come easy to the young boy. Studying, writing, athletics; he seemed to be gifted in every area.
The only thing that he actually worked at was acting. After being taken to a stage show by his father, Charles became obsessed with the craft, pouring his heart, soul, and free time into it. After looking into several of the nearby companies, his father pulled some strings and got his son an audition at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-Upon-Avon. In accordance with his luck, he nailed the audition, and became a member of the company at the young age of twelve.
Charles continued to work on his skills in the company, and quickly moved up in the politics, gaining higher and higher roles, and more and more influence. When the RSC wanted to open their new theater house in April of 1879, they knew that their lead actor was getting a bit too long in the tooth, and after forcing his retirement, asked the seventeen year old Charles to play the lead in the theater’s opening night.
But that performance of Much Ado About Nothing changed the life of Charles in more ways than one, as in the crowd was his soon to be Sire. Having an innate ability to read into people’s self-doubts, he approached Charles backstage. He told the young boy that his looks and talent could not last forever, but with his help, they could. When Charles asked for the meaning, the Sire quickly showed his fangs, and attacked and killed one of the nearby stagehands.
Having heard the legend of vampires, and seeing this, Charles quickly put the story together. Although he was a bit reluctant, the words of the Sire had struck home, and he agreed to go through with the transformation. After making his death look like a stage accident, Charles was buried and mourned for by his family. But with the blood of the Sire running through him, Charles was awoken in his grave, as a vampire.
The next several decades were merely a blur to Charles. Having everything given to him, he began using his talents as a vampire to take what he wanted. Money, women, drugs, they were all taken from whoever he wanted. All the while, Charles would still check in with his Sire to insure everything was well in his base coven before going out again, seeking the dangerous life he was somewhat sheltered from in his upper class life.
It was also during these years that Charles began to do his investigation work as a vampire. Working in books of the new science of psychology, Charles began to look into the social understandings of the human mind. He wanted to be able to manipulate people, and to bend them to his will, much like his Sire had done to him. It was through these skills that he began to be able to manipulate people, in particularly woman, to do whatever he liked, causing him to thirst for their company even more. It had become a game to him.
But Charles life changed drastically on Christmas Eve, 2009. Having turned his attention on a woman in a pub in London, Charles had spent a majority of the night trying to coax her into his bed, and most likely an early morning meal. However, she became one of the few women to rebuff his advances. She claimed she was in love with a man, and would not be unfaithful. Frustrated by his lack of abilities, Charles decided to seek out this man that had caused him to fail. Following the woman home, the vampire stalked outside of the family’s home for several hours before the man came outside to take out the garbage from their Christmas Eve meal. Becoming enraged at the man’s apparent simple nature, Charles quickly leapt at him, and tore out his throat before leaving the home. But he made one mistake, the woman had seen his assault.
Holding her dead lover in her arms and weeping, the woman was in for a chance encounter. Knowing that the holidays were a particular time of discord for lovers, several Vengeance Demons tend to walk the world of mortals. One such demon happened to be in the near vicinity, and came to the side of the woman. Posing as a nurse, she claimed to be trying to help the man, she asked the young woman about the assailant. During the story, the demon continued to probe subtly, asking for the woman to wish for horrible things to happen to the attacker. But the woman, while crying made only one wish, “I hope that he feels the pain that this has caused me.”
Already back in his lair, Charles suddenly was overcome with something he hadn’t felt in years, pain and sadness. Having been a vampire for nearly a century and a half, both of these emotions were long since forgotten, and without a soul to act as a mediator, he felt the pain through the eyes of the woman, seeing the hurt he had caused. After a week of trying to reconcile these emotions, he was on the edge of sanity, when he thought that something must be done. Returning to the woman’s home, he awaited her to leave for her lover’s wake, attacking again and killing the woman on her doorstep. But back at home, he was not greeted by the comfort of his instinctual emotions, but by the sudden feelings of hurt and loss experienced by the woman’s family when they found her on her doorstep.
Afraid that these emotions would overtake him, Charles quickly went to the only place he could, his Sire. But the sire saw his emotions not as something he could help, but as a sign of weakness. Casting his “child” out of the Coven, the sire simply warned him “Do not return.”
Alone, Charles spent the past two years trying to find a cure for his curse all over the world, from the Far East to New Orleans, Louisiana, he could not feel comfort. When the people he sought could not help his pain, he would usually fly into a rage, killing them, but then would be overcome with the emotion of those they would be leaving. But what has started to get to Charles is that all of the emotion has become so intense, that he actually is starting to feel a hint of remorse for his victims.
Not knowing what to do, Charles heard through his contacts that a war was brewing between the opposite houses of magic in London. Still afraid of his sire’s wrath, Charles needed to find a cure, and saw this as his best opportunity. Boarding the underside of a cruise ship, he began to make his way back home.
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT
The big plan I have for him is to eventually get fed up with both sides of the magic spectrum. He’ll come into London feeling like a slave to magic, thinking it’s the only way to end his curse, but in the end, both sides just use him to attack the other as a soldier of fortune, with no real intention to research the cure. Having no real alternative, he turns to the slayer. After getting his word that he will help her hunt down vampires (who he sees as betrayers, or those that cause the hurt he’s forced to feel), she agrees to help him find a way out of his curse. This would lead to two eventual plots I would see. One in which the sire takes him in again, and begins to try to get information on the slayer, seeing if he would snap and tell, and the other being the Slayer actually holding up to her end of the bargain, but by sending him on the trials to regain his soul.

Charles stared up at the ceiling of his most recent victim’s apartment. Lying shirtless, with his back against her sheet, he knew that morning was quickly approaching, and that he would need to quickly leave the room if he were to find a place for the morning in the nearby graveyard. He had picked this girl based simply on that fact. Rising up from the bed, he looked down at his prey.
But unlike his previous victims, there was no blood. No lifeless corpse. No horrible scene that would be left for the police to fine. Instead, there was simply a brunette girl curled up in a ball and wearing his button-up, navy shirt he had worn from the evening before.
In the old days, when Charles ran one of his scams, things would have gone much differently. After pretending to be a lost exchange student from America, he had begged his way up to her apartment, asking to use her phone to call home after losing his student visa. The old Charles would have quickly shoved the door closed, and proceeded to feast on the girl’s blood, but he was different now, after meeting that bitch two years ago.
Now he looked down and could see her jugular vein still intact and throbbing. He could almost smell her blood, it was intoxicating. But he quickly turned his eyes away. Because if he killed her, he would be right back in the same circumstances that had lead him here.
As he place his boots onto his feet silently, he recalled the homeless man he had killed and fed on three days ago. Hoping this man would break his curse, Charles quickly felt the pain of a group of other homeless that had relied on this man for their food, and had grown close. Overcome with their pain of being severed from their close bond, Charles had sought out this woman to feel any kind of closeness. It was the opposite of the pain that he felt, and therefore the thing he thought would help him relieve it.
But as he silently made his way through the door, he couldn’t help but feel the pain coming over him once again, and started having the thoughts that had clouded his judgment over the past few years. Where these the feelings that his victims had all felt? How could they deal with it?
He shrugged it off as he began to make his way down the stairs. No. Humans were inferior. They were his prey, and he would treat them as such. These emotions were simple, just like the ones he had faked on the stage so many years ago. He would find a way to be rid of them, or die trying.
