the monsters, they are for real
SOMETHING OUT THERE; THE WAY YOU FEEL
- WEREWOLF ABILITIES; Her greatest secret is, admittedly, her greatest strength. Alice has supernatural strength, reflexes and senses even in her human form. When the wolf takes control she’s easily strong enough to take down a middle aged vampire (like any were, really).
- OPEN MINDED; Alice doesn’t believe in labels of categories, or ways to discriminate against others. She does not care for stereotypes and is ready and willing to see the good in anyone, no matter what race, age, even species.
- STRONG WILLED; She may be quiet, but if Alice believes in something enough she is highly unlikely to back down without seeing it through. Her determination is of the quiet variety, and sometimes sly in manner, but it works in exactly the same way, perhaps even better than, those people who get their way by using their fists.
- INTELLIGENT; She is clever. Achieving nothing below an A at GCSE (and only one of them), and predicted at receiving four straight A’s (or higher) in her A Levels, Alice is definitely above average. She is not afraid to work for her grades either, and though she has been considered to be a bookish nerd, she’s generally too nice to people to have ever been bullied.
- FOCUSSED; It’s hard, incredibly hard, to distract Alice from something if she’s busy. She doesn’t have the problem other students have about getting distracted by other things when working, and will generally sit down to get everything done as soon as she thinks about it, if she is able. Her father always said that just because she is clever, it’s not excuse to slack off.
- CONTROLLED; Due to the wolf, and due to have had the wolf for a few years now, Alice has become an expert at keeping herself controlled and her emotions under wraps in even the most stressing of situations. (In fact, stress is also something rather foreign to her now). Of course, her main tactic of keeping controlled is to keep out of the way.
- STRATEGIST; She never has only one plan – the Wolf and the Moon have taught her that. She always makes sure everything she has to do is neatly organised, with more than one possible path to take in case a problem occurs. This also helps her reduce stress.
WEAKNESSES
- MONSTER WITHIN; As much as she hates it, Alice is (no longer) human. For three nights of the month she doesn’t look or act human, and her human self is completely forgotten beneath the Wolf which also resides within her body. At certain times of the month this ‘presence’ is less noticeable that at others (such as in the middle of the month), but on occasion if she’s not careful, wolfish traits come through in her everyday behaviour as the full moon draws closer.
- QUIET; Sometimes it’s easy to overlook her, as she spends most of her lesson time hunched over in her chair with her hair loose and falling over her face, keeping out of sight as much as she can. And even in large crowds she is incredibly quiet unless prompted, but that just adds to her sweet nature.
- INNOCENT; Alice is completely and utterly innocent, in most matters. Unfortunately, not in the ways of violence, because more than once she has woken up the morning after the first moon naked and covered in blood (animal, always, luckily – she tested), but she is in any matter to do with boys. She can hardly talk to them, let alone letting them closer – the wolf has also wiped away her old flirting behaviour due to her fear of hurting someone.
- COMPLIANT; She won’t argue. Though this might seem to be a strength, it isn’t – though easy to get along with, Alice can get quite annoying due to the fact that she won’t appear to have any opinions of her own. More often than not, she will just agree with others unless it’s a topic she feels really strongly about.
- CHARITY STORE CLOTHING; She’s not big on fashion labels – especially seeing as she hates the damage most of them do to the environment, so she has, on occasion, been teased for wearing tatty things she picked up in charity shops. That’s also due to the fact that she doesn’t have any money, compared to others. She’s rather poor.
- LONELY; She is, simply, afraid to let people close in fear of waking up to find their blood on her. Not that she allows herself to be loose on the nights of the full moon – coping with the curse for years has ensured that she always changes inside locked parks or locked rooms now, but still, her fear has never truely abated.
- VEGETARIAN; Due to the fact that she still refuses to eat meat when in human form (as she has done her entire life), her wolf is always slightly more bloodthirsty and violent when it comes to the fore, resulting in more than one death of a small fuzzy creature if she’s in the park (and probably the destruction of quite a few vampires, she doesn’t know).

death out there, there's always been
I'VE SEEN THE KILLER AND IT LIES WITHIN
She only went to a London comprehensive, but still managed to get the top in her year (and the two years before that) when it came to her final GCSE examinations, but even before the results came out, she had started pestering her mother and father to send her to Kings College, not caring that she had to move half way over London in order to get there and that her brothers would be more than a little out of her reach. She was nervous, of course, having seen them every day and caring for them since she was old enough, but Alice wanted to learn. And due to her excellent grades, even though her family couldn’t actually afford to send her, she was offered a placement.
But ‘to learn’ was not the only reason she had insisted upon moving. Five weeks before her first exam had been taken, Alice had been walking home one night, and then had woken up the next morning in hospital, with a bandage around her waist and a large bite sized chunk of flesh no longer attached to her body. She had been attacked by a monster, a werewolf who had broken out of the human’s carefully constructed safe house and fancied a bite out of her. What happened, she’s not entire sure – irritatingly, her memory of that night mainly consists of blurs and pain. But a month later she had turned as well, locked in her own home (home alone, luckily), and woken up with the slaughtered body of her cat beside her. She wanted to move mainly because she was afraid that the next time, it would be her family.
Her plans had been disrupted, but due to her logical mind, Alice immediately started to plan for the future, focussing on the science in her studies. She didn’t bother being in denial, and though she feared the full moon and the results of it made her withdrawn, she was determined to live with it and not to kill anything else. That changed to anyone after she woke up in the park surrounded by bloody rabbit fur.
Since she arrived at the college, Alice has kept her secret and hidden, being a quiet shy girl devoted to her work and grades, rather than a bloodthirsty monster trying desperately to find a cure. She refuses to allow the emotions that everything brings over her to get in her way and so ignores them (not denying them, just finding time for other things). Also though, in her own time and separate from her studies, Alice started looking into the supernatural. She wishes not to, but in order to investigate her own disease, she has to understand everything around them, in her own mind. That doesn’t mean she wants to bring attention to herself, because she doesn’t. But that’s getting more difficult now that a lot of other strange people appear to be turning up around her...
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT A roomie of Alexandre, and a girl werewolf, this one might turn out to be an allie of the Slayer if she embraces her true nature. As it is, at the moment she could come out of her shell and take pride in what she is. Ideally, what she wants is to both become a nurse and find out a scientific explanation for what has happened to her (but that’s in the long term). Plot wise, though, her secret being pulled out either in a good way or a bad way could be a nice one to plot.
