Well this wasn't so bad, he thought as he entered the university housing, which resembled four structured dorms, each meeting in a room which carried with it the lounge and the kitchen. The rooms were sizeable, and this was rather surprising. He had expected some small, shabby rooms which would result in uncomfortable sleeping among other things. He was very close to renting an apartment close by the college, but had decided upon a college dorm as the primary option, due to the extra-closeness to the university and the chance to study with peers he would be assigned rooms with. Also, he really didn't have anything to do outside of the uni, therefore this was a rather feasable option. At least he might meet some friends, that was a good thing. Though at the same time, the thought burdened him. Would they instantly know he is different, and not one of them?
After examining his room, he found his way back to the general area and sat down on one of the comfy couches. Oh, there was a television. That was great. He turned it on out of sheer boredom, and flicked through the channels. Some soap opera, cartoons which made him cringe, a cooking show, and finally some sports. A cricket game, to be exact. Smiling softly, be became slightly fixacted by the game, drawing him in. He did enjoy sports, and hadn't really found the time or patience to actually sit down and watch some. After a few more minutes, he turned the television off, and moved off into the kitchen, where he soon found the fridge. Though when he opened it, what he found wasn't to his delight. It was empty, other than some items he gathered belonged to the other roomates. Guess he would need to be doing some shopping, hey?
He moved over to the table, placing some sheets of paper upon it, which were outlines for him this semester. Basically, where he was supposed to be, what class he would have and when. It was a good structure, especially since he wasn't the best with directions, especially somewhere he was rather unfamiliar with.

It had been maybe two months since she had arrived in London and already she was trying to enroll herself in college and act like she was just another random student. Being in school and working allowed her to keep things off of her mind because she was rarely able to stop and think for very long. She had already been to her dorm earlier and unloaded the little belongings that she actually had before heading back out to the little shop she had found a job at. The money was nice especially because she was completely on her own and knew that wasn't going to change. Being alone was something she was used to, but used to it or not didn't change the fact that she didn't always like it. A dorm would allow her to meet other people and hopefully not feel so lonely all the time.
After work she grabbed a sub from a local sub shop and headed back to the drom, food there was scarce and she didn't want to start trouble by touching the other people's food. The less shse stayed off the radar the better. When she had left the dorm no one had been there but now as she opened the door she could hear that someone else was indeed there now. She wondered who it might be, she hadn't met her roommates yet. As she walked in the door she pulled off her shoes and walked into the sitting area before spotting the guy that was there. "Oh hello, you must be one of the roommates" she replied her accent still very prevelant, it was an obvious statement but she couldn't think of anything else to say at the moment. She walked over to the kitchen and set her sub down still in it's bag to eat after introductions were over. It was nice being in London because there was a lot of diversity from the surrounding countries, so a girl such as herself from Romania didn't draw much attention as it was, that was how she liked it. He was too transfixed in his notes, that he hadn't heard the door open and someone enter, until he heard the voice of a girl, obviously calling her attention to him. He looked up , placing his notes back on the table neatly, which he would be able to look at later. "Hello. Yes, I just arrived here not long ago." His French accent was strong, however he felt relief in the fact that this woman obviously had an accent too, which wasn't of British descent. He wasn't able to put his finger on what it was, however. He wasn't overly familiar with the other cultures and their accents. This girl, was terribly beautiful though, he couldn't deny that. She seemed like a friendly young woman, whom he would be able to get along with and hopefully become friends with. He would like that very much, as he hadn't found any friends yet. He needed some friends, if he wanted any sort of a normal life.
He realized how unpolite he was, as he moved foward and put his hand out for the girl to shake. "I'm Alexandre. Studying artistic designs." He smiled cooly towards the girl. He was rather surprised though, having a girl in the dorm with him. Even though it was seperate rooms, he had assumed they would of paired the students up in respect to their genders. But he was glad they didn't take on that dictatorship role, for he enjoyed the company of females and males. Friends were friends, right? If he could make friends with as many people here as he could, that would be great. He might even get some of his 'thrill seeking' personality back, which wasn't necessarily a good thing, but was a way he was able to enjoy himself and relax more.
He looked around the room, looking for some other things they could talk about, so that it didn't turn awkward. "Nice place, esn't et?" He was still getting over how surprisingly good this place had turned out to be. It might not be half bad after all. Especially if this girl was as friendly and cool as she appeared to be from first glance and introductions.

Eliza met his extended hand with hers to complete the handshake and offered him a light smile. "It is a pleasure to meet you Alexandre, I am Elizabeth" she added exchanging her name for his. His accent intrigued her ears and she pretty rapidly gathered that it was French. "So you aren't from around here either huh? French am I correct?" she asked with a smile. She knew she was right but it was a way to keep the conversation going and show that she was interested in getting to know him. It was cool to her that one of her roommates was also foreign so she wasn't the only one.
"Artistic design, that sounds pretty cool. I am studying Linguistics" she replied. She had figured that since she was so talented with languages that she might as well study an area that used her strengths. She had to admit Alexandre was extremely attractive, she usually tried not to let herself get carried away with looking at other guys and for that reason she had never dated before, plus no one had ever been patient enough to get to know her. She glanced around the place when he motioned and spoke of how nice it was. She nodded in agreement "Yeah I really like it so far, I was surprised about the coed rooming, not that I mind, it was just odd. I expected something a little smaller and less well nice" she replied with a laugh. She could laugh and she could smile but if one payed enough attention they would see that her smiles and her laughs never really reached her eyes. Her happiness was only half there, the other half lost with her parents.
This boy in front of her wasn't exactly as he seemed either. He seemed happy, chipper but she could feel that deep down, hidden from the world was pain and suffering, guilt. It wasn't something she was trying to sense, it was just something she could do. She was after all an empath. Talk about invasion of privacy. [/center][/blockquote]

He gathered it wouldn't take her long to realize that he wasn't from these parts. Anyone would be able to determine that. Sometimes it was a good thing, because he was different and people were interested in people of different customs. But other types, it was frustrating, especially when people begun to judge you because you weren't from the same parts they were from, and found it hard to accept a foreigner. Though upon realizing that Elizabeth was also of another culture, he felt relief and slight cheerfulness. It was rather comforting to be a roomate of someone who you could relate to, especially with being new to the area, and English not being the primary language. He hoped this would be able to bond the two to become close friends. He would like that very much.
"Yeah, I came from France. Moved here about a month ago. Haven't been out much to explore and see where everything es. Been busy sorting out college stuff." Smiling softly, he continued trying to pick up on her accent. "Your accent sounds familiar...But I can't tell what it is." He once again chuckled, feeling slightly stupid for not being able to tell. He smiled in recognition of Elizabeth studying linguistics. "That sounds...Challenging?" He chuckled once again, softly. He wouldn't be brave enough to study such a challenging course. It sounded like it required a high entry mark too, which he obviously didn't have. He was still trying to completely grasp this language on its own, without studying it in even greater detail. He therefore admired Elizabeth for doing such a challenging course. It was a great feeling to know that your roomate was someone who appeared to be a hard worker and academic. It meant they would have productive studying, and could keep on top of their work.
He nodded in agreement with the girl. It was like she was thinking exactly the same as he was, strangely. "I thought that too...I expected a dump." He laughed, before going on. "But glad I didn't have to spend money and trouble on finding an apartment, this is much easier." She seemed to be a lot like him in many ways, and he enjoyed that. He believed the two would be able to get along really well, and he looked foward to the endless possibilities.

Eliza smiled when he confirmed to her that he was indeed from France. "France is a nice place, been there once but not for long. Just kinda passed through but I liked the sights and the people seemed interesting and friendly enough" she replied with a smile. France had been one of the places she had stopped in before coming here, she had stopped in many different countries until she had settled on England. When he commented on not being able to quite place her accent she decided it would be only fair to help him out and let him know where she was from since she knew where he was from now. "I am from Romania, moved here a couple months ago after doing some traveling around Europe" she added, not everyone could pick up on languages like she could and she tried to keep that in mind.
"It can be a challenging course, but it is something I have always enjoyed. Not many people take it, but then again not many people are as into languages as I am" she replied with a light laugh. Some people might say that she was rather obsessed with languages, really she just found learning them fun and relaxing actually. What was cool was that while learning a language she also tended to pick up on the accent, this allowed her to sound like she was from anywhere really. It would be fun to confuse teachers and classmates by switching between accents, but for her roommate she would spare him the trouble.
"It was a nice alternative to an apartment for sure. Especially for those of us students that can't afford a nice apartment, I am sure most cannot. So far London is pretty nice though, some interesting stuff to see and do. I haven't done too much exploring, mainly I looked around for a job and then did a little sight seeing" she replied and then realized she was talking a lot about herself and decided that was quite rude. "So how is artistic design? I have always love painting and drawing, but never thought of making a career of it, was never that good actually" she replied with a laugh. She liked to dabble in the arts in her free time and was better at some things over others. She wondered exactly what artistic design entailed and what he was studying while in the course. Alice had encountered many people approaching the offered housing for the first time, and seen many expressions. Most though, they looked around with some derisive sniffs and then complained loudly as to how their accomodation back home, or wherever they had lived before, was much better. Alice always fought a blush down when she came over those conversations and never joined it. How could she say that actually, her room here was much larger than the one she had occupied back at home, and that the kitchen was also a lot bigger? If she said that, people might think she was lying to get sympathy.
And as she often forgot that other people did not possess the same ability to smell the levels of pheneromes given off by each emotion, she generally did not even dare to give any impression that she might be lying. That would be attention...and she did not want to draw attention to herself.
She had already made herself at home, arriving a few days before (of her own choice, of course, her plan had made sure that she had time to scout out the area without standing out), but hadn't spent much time in the communal housing. Her time had been divided (logically, of course) between the library and the grounds. She was coming back from the former of those two when she caught the scent (and she shuddered at that description) of other people.
The brown haired girl froze in her steps, but then took a deep breath and started moving forward again, her arms tightening around the books clutched tightly to her chest. Other people...no need to worry. She could not hurt them now, and they would not know. No one could know, because for starters, the science behind everything was impossible and her opinions were unquantifiable and she couldn't explain it. And because them knowing would draw attention to herself.
The voices were coming from the communal area, through the open door that she would have to pass in order to be able to walk to her own room, so she peered around the doorframe - the long waves of hair obscuring most of the portion of her face which could be visable from view. Two people, a boy and a girl, but she could have figured that out already. But it didn't matter. They were still people. She drew back before walking quickly forward, passing the open doorway as quickly as she could.
Being noticed made her afraid, though exactly why...Alice wasn't sure. People couldn't read her secrets just by looking at her, could they?
